AT&T provides in-store take back of any brand of cell phone. They also collect phones through employees, retirees, resellers, and an exchange-by-mail handset warranty program. Promotions include providing instructions to clear data from your cell phone, recycle-by-mail envelopes, and the engagement of the AT&T Pioneer’s network to help spread the word and support the cause through their own ongoing community donation drives.
Best Buy will continue to promote in-store recycling of all brands of cell phones. Located at the front of each store is a recycling kiosk, with a slot for cell phone recycling. Within the store, consumers can recycle their phones at the Best Buy Mobile desk, or Best Buy Mobile associates can provide envelopes for mail-back cell phones. Look for promotions in Best Buy’s weekly circular.
LG Electronics wants you to text them! By sending a message to 57895, LG Electronics will provide a prepaid envelope for mailing cell phones for recycling. Customers can request envelopes and pre-paid labels online for mail-back. Customers also have the option of dropping off their cell phones at any Waste Management Inc facility- just enter your zip code on the website to find the nearest location. LG Electronics promotes Recycle 4 Schools, a challenge for 10 high schools to collect handsets for 30-60 days.
RecycleBank is a program that rewards people for recycling. Individuals can earn RecycleBank Points for recycling cell phones through their online mail-in program. Every device earns at least 10 points, and points can be redeemed for a variety of products and services!
Samsung will promote National Cell Phone Recycling Week during the March to a Million In-School Recycling Program. This program will reach 5.6 million students in 7,000 middle and high schools across the country to motivate teens to recycle 1 million cell phones. Samsung will also host a green focused satellite media tour, provide educational leader kits, and pre-paid envelopes to mail-back your Samsung mobile phone.
Sprint is reaching out to the Hispanic community! Sprint will be featured on the television show, Despierta America. Sprint accepts all brands of cell phones for recycling: bring it to their stores, download a pre-paid envelope online, or look in the box for of your new phone for recycling instructions. Sprint event has a BuyBack program!
T-Mobile will mobilize their National Cell Phone Recycling Week campaign by sending text messages to all of their customers! T-Mobile accepts all brands and models of cell phones for recycling at their stores.
Verizon encourages customers to return unwanted cell phones for recycling to any retail store nationwide. To mail in your old phone for recycling, print a free postage-paid label (PDF), affix it to an envelope, and drop it in the mail.
